At Ladies of Charity Austin, we are dedicated to improving the lives of those in need by providing essential resources and support. Our mission is to make a positive impact in our community and beyond.
The purpose of the Ladies of Charity of Austin is to honor Our Lord Jesus Christ as the source and model of all charity. By imitating Him in all their endeavors, the members will seek sanctification for themselves and others as they practice the virtues of humility, simplicity and charity when they serve the sick and lonely and when they provide for the spiritual and corporal welfare of the poor and needy of the community.
St. Vincent de Paul founded the Ladies of Charity in the 17th century. It is a charitable organization of laywomen intended to provide for the spiritual and corporal welfare of the poor and the needy of the community.
The Ladies of Charity of Austin, founded in 1880, volunteer at the local soup kitchen, visit nursing homes, the state hospital and state school. They operated a thrift store, the profits of which funded charitable ministries and provide emergency assistance to the needy.
